Among the pioneering companies in Peeramade have been South Indian Tea Estates and Travancore Tea Estates both companies of repute in their administrative and agricultural practices who set the pace in the industry. They withdrew from South India in the years 1978 & 1976 respectively. While South Indian Tea Estates was acquired by ‘Hope Plantations’ Travancore Tea Estates was bought over by ‘Ram Bahadur Thakur’ both based in North India. In the year 2011 Bethel Plantation acquired three estates namely Tungamullay, Mount & Koliekanam from RBT followed by the acquisition of the entire Hope Plantations consisting of Glenmary, Kuduvakarnam and Ladrum estates bringing the total extent of Bethel Plantation to 2240 ha.

Primary business of the Company is Tea followed by Coffee, Cardamom, and Pepper. The Company has also diversified into other areas such as Hospitality Industry Organic Farming and Diary Farm. Manufacture of tea Green leaf is carried out in two factories located on Glenmary Estate and Ladrum Estate. While Glenmary factory processes tea in the CTC method in Ladrum this is carried out in what is popularly know as the Orthodox method. Both the factories have strong customer loyalty and the products are sold at premium levels.

Corporate Office of Bethel Plantations is located in Glenmary Estate, Glenmary PO, in Peeramade Taluk of Kerala state. Day to day operations is managed from this office by a team of Professionals.
